Mumbai - The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) has sent notices to 12,000 persons who the SRA alleges have bought houses before the stipulated time period set by the authority. The SRA claims that these persons have also illegally started occupying the houses. The Bombay High Court has asked SRA to demarcate the houses which have violated the rules. SRA CEO Vishwas Patil says,"There are 12000 such houses which have been purchased and sold before the scheduled time." The notice asks the owners to provide proof that they are indeed the owners of the houses. As per SRA guidelines, individuals who purchase the houses under the SRA scheme cannot purchase or sell the house for a period of 10 years. Those proven guilty will have legal action initiated against them.
