Maharashtra urban development minister Eknath Shinde mentioned that a part of the Metro Line 5 that will run from Thane, Bhiwandi and Kalyan which will go through Bhiwandi's Unnat Nagar will be underground to ensure that 735 buildings will not be hampered for the metro construction, highlighted accounts.

This, according to him, will surge the cost by an excess INR 400 crore, while presently, the metro project is estimated to be at INR 8,417 crore. Shinde's response comes in the aftermath of a calling attention motion in the legislative assembly on Tuesday, March 22.

Based on reports, while a Samajwadi Party MLA asked for requisite compensation for commercial shops, Shinde remarked that they will be given 225 sq shops. Adding, those displaced will be offered housing in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) rental housing scheme.

On the other hand, in the Metro Line 4 and Metro Line 9, land acquisition for the metro car sheds will be done through consensus, assured Shinde, highlighted narratives. An MLA had criticized that the execution of the metro work for Line 3 was done without finalizing the sites for the car sheds, cited accounts.

Similarly, the MLA elucidated that for Line 4 and 9 car sheds, plots selected belong to a local community that cultivate there. Moreover, the MLA uttered that the site selected at Mira-Bhayandar is also an agricultural land, while there was governmental land available.
