In yet another significant infrastructural boost, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) on Wednesday, February 21, said that they have finished land survey work for the upcoming Shaktipeeth Expressway connecting Nagpur and Goa.

Officials further stated that the land acquisition and compensatory process will begin soon.

The new expressway will be 800 km long passing through 12 districts between Nagpur and Goa.

As per the MSRDC, the new Nagpur-Goa expressway will provide direct connectivity between the two places reducing the travel time from 21 hours to 11 hours.

The expressway will cover Hindu pilgrimage places such as two jyotirlingas — one in Parli Vaijnath and second is Aundh Naganath (Nageshwar) in Hingoli district.

Mahur Renu Devi temple, Tuljabhavani in Tuljapur,  Vitthal Rakhumai temple of Pandharpur, Mahalaxmi temple of Kolhapur, and Goa’s Patradevi temple are other popular temples in both these states that the expressway will cover.

The project, which also aims to boost tourism, will cost INR 86,000 crore being a complete green field project.
