Thane is set to get India’s tallest viewing tower, which will rise to a height of 260 metres. The tower will be built on 50 acres beside Kasarvadavali Creek. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced the project on Monday, December 15, in Mumbai.

He said a convention centre will also be constructed at the same site. The design will take inspiration from the Eiffel Tower in France. Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao was also present at the event. They presented several development projects planned for Thane district.

The planned developments in Thane include a Koli Museum, an aquarium, a science centre, an international-standard snow park, an amusement park, and an adventure park. A Bird Museum will be built on a 12.5-acre plot. A musical concert centre is planned on 25 acres. A modern sports complex will be developed on 50 acres.

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) will also build the Anandvan Green Belt. It will stretch 18.4 kilometres and is located near the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) border and next to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.

The state government has allocated INR 10 crore to construct the Bird Museum in Kolshet. All projects are planned on BOT and government-supported bases. The goal is to provide modern amenities while promoting tourism and recreation in Thane.

In terms of transport, Deputy CM Shinde announced that future metro rail projects will connect Mhatredi Bullet Train station, Diva, Mumbra, and Kalwa. It includes a 3.2-kilometre line from Mhatredi to Taloja Metro Line-12 and a 4.1-kilometre line from Mhatredi to Kopar to Dombivli.
