Here are 12 places you can cover this new year that are both, conveniently distanced from Mumbai and generously desired.


Alibaug – 93 km

With the first long weekend coming up in January itself, how does a trip to Alibaug sound? It’s easy to get there and it has you could plan a romantic dine-out with your significant other at the elegant Boardwalk by Flamboyante, situated right on the sea-shore or plan a day at famous Alibaug Beach and the Kolaba Fort with your friends and family!

Khandala and Lonavala – 83-88 km

February’ comes with a four-day long weekend, from the 10th to the 13th! The famous twin hill stations, Khandala and Lonavala seem like a good place to go to. Airbnb your stay or check into some of the real good, highly sought after hotels like the Dukes Retreat. March brings in long weekends for Holi and Good Friday, planning a trip to Mahabaleshwar seems like a nice idea. Elephanta Caves – 12.4 km

May is going to be a spoiler and disturb our voyager enthusiasm. Why? Because it has only one holiday unless you combine it with the long weekend of April. Anyway, you could still take a one day trip to the Elephanta Caves. Just board a ferry sailing to the Caves from the Gateway of India and you’ll reach the beautiful and historic Elephanta Caves in no time!

Oh, look! Here’s June with three days for a long weekend. So, Igatpuri during the monsoons? A place famous for the hill stations, dams, forts, lakes, and rivers. And while you are at it, don’t miss out on the Tringalwadi Fort, Lake and a set of temples if you the holy grail is for you.
