The delivery of a broad variety of product categories is becoming more and more popular among consumers in the rapidly growing online purchasing and sales market. In 2023, the most popular delivery choices were food and clothing, based on the preferences of the population. It's noteworthy that, as of 2023, documents are the third most popular category.
Of the total, 36% orders that delivery riders delivered fell within the delivery radius of 1 to 5 km, 23% fell within the radius of 5 to 10 km, and 14% fell within the range of 10 to 15 km. Indian cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru were the busiest and were the top three cities opting for online delivery options, respectively. Pune and Ahmedabad were starting to gain ground in 2023.
Top Delivery Locations Across Mumbai:Every Mumbaikar enjoys online shopping and delivery services. People find it comforting if they have someone to pick up parcels for them and drop them at the required location, as it saves a lot of time for working-class people and saves senior citizens from the hassle of moving out and exerting themselves.
In Mumbai, most of the online purchases and deliveries (business-to-consumer deliveries) were made by people residing between CST to Worli, followed by Andheri to Borivali.
People residing between Andheri and Saki Naka seemed a bit less interested in opting for this comforting option, as the fewest online orders were made from this region of the city.
Moreover, Borzo’s report noted that a huge number of exclusive deliveries (door-to-door) were observed near the vicinity of Nhava Seva, Dharavi, Powai, Jogeshwari, Kalyan, and Vasai-Virar.
A smaller number of exclusive deliveries were observed near the vicinity of Wadala-Sewri, Chembur-Mankhurd, Madh, and Panvel.
Distance Covered And Delivery Time:
Mumbai's average order distance in 2023 was 9 km, down from 13.2 km in 2022, the report stated.In Mumbai, Wednesdays and Fridays were the busiest days for delivery, while Sundays were the least busy. Most of the items were picked up from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and delivered to the location they wanted their goods to be sent.
With the rising sun, the day of a common man in Mumbai starts, but it never ends with the setting sun. Delivery boys too have the same schedule, as the busiest hours for deliveries were 10 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 3 am.
