Special precautions are being taken under the guidance of District Collector and District Election Officer Rajendra Kshirsagar to make voting easier for disabled voters in Mumbai suburban district for the Lok Sabha elections. District Disability Coordinating Officer Prasad Khairnar informed that one thousand 106 Divyang Mitra volunteers of National Service Scheme (NSS) have been appointed in various colleges of the district to exercise their right to vote, guide and help the disabled voters on Monday May 20, 2024. 


On the day of polling, 26 ring routes have been prepared for the disabled and senior voters according to the assembly constituencies. Also, disabled friendly low-floor buses will run on polling day. Disabled and senior voters will be able to avail this transport facility on the lines of 'show your hand and stop the bus'.

A booklet containing information about the said ring route and the Divyang Mitra Swayamsevak appointed for the Divyang brothers as well as the concerned officer staff has also been prepared.
