Prime Minister Narendra Modi will carry out nine rallies in Maharashtra ahead of the upcoming assembly elections which are scheduled on October 21, Union Minister Smriti Irani informed on Friday.

Irani, who visited Maharashtra state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Mumbai, said that PM Modi will start the election campaign in the state on Sunday at Jalgaon and Sakoli Bhandara district. 

The Union Minister further stated that PM Modi will address rallies in Akola, Partur in Jalna and Airoli on October 16 followed by his visit to Parli in Beed and other parts of western Maharashtra. 

PM Modi will finish his campaign for 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections with his “grand finale rally” in Mumbai on October 18 which is three days before the polling.

While speaking to the media, Smriti Irani praised Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for sanctioning crop insurance worth ₹21,950 crores for farmers. 

Irani said that during 15-years of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress government, the farmers received the same worth ₹7,500 crores only.

The Union Minister further stated that the loan waivers worth ₹25,000 crores were given to the farmers. Moreover, the state government is investing ₹1.50 lakh crore in the agriculture sector.
