Western Maharashtra has been a stronghold of NCP as well as Congress. However, the BJP is trying to capture this fort. Therefore, BJP has started including a veteran leader of this region in its fold who is with Sharad Pawar.

The BJP believes that if it wants to win more than 42 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, it will be possible only if it brings in important leaders from both the parties, Congress and NCP. There were also reports that this leader would get an important place in the cabinet, but the leader denied this. Sources have said that big leaders will soon join BJP. These leaders of the Sharad Pawar faction will soon join BJP. This leader has long experience of handling important accounts in the state. He is also a big name in the cooperative sector.
