The Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition partners took a dig at Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi-led government Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) at Centre on the occasion of its completion of five years of demonetisation. Demonetisation completed its five years on Monday, November 8.

Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena leader, said that the Central government should apologise to the countrymen for its failure of demonetisation. 

Raut further said that the circulation of black money has also increased while the note ban was a complete failure and an economic failure. Due to this, thousands of people lost their jobs and lives. While talking about Kashmir Raut, said that in the last five years, terrorism has increased in Kashmir.

Nawab Malik, on the other hand tweeted that nothing has been achieved so far due to demonetisation. Neither black money came out nor the corruption dipped in the country and said that the PM must take responsibility for the failure.

Nana Patole, Maharashtra Congress Chief, said that due to demonetisation, lakhs of people were left unemployed, which resulted in a dip in the GDP.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Pravin Dareka, while hitting back at the ruling parties, said that the country has benefitted from demonetisation. The tax bracket has widened that brought unaccounted money under taxation. It also helped in improving the country's economy, he added.

The demonetisation took place on November 8, 2016.
