Mumbai's dabbawalas make last ditch effort to convince voters
The BMC's initiative to rope in the Mumbai dabbawala to increase voter awareness appears to be paying off.
The two lakh strong dabbawala force in the city has taken its new brief seriously. For the last two weeks, the dabbawalas have been assiduously inserting chits saying 'Majhe Mat Majhi Takad' (my vote, my strength) in lunch boxes that are delivered every afternoon across offices in the city. The campaign takes the message of 'Cast your Vote' to the citizens every day.
On Monday, led by the Mumbai Dabbawala Association leader Subhash Talekar, the dabbawalas converged on the bridge outside Lower Parel station to appeal to Mumbai's voters.
