Amid the imposition of President’s rule, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Wednesday said that the development work will not stop in the state. 

The President’s rule in Maharashtra has been imposed since November 12. The Governor said that a target has been set to build 19 lakh houses till 2022. 

While speaking at an event, the Maharashtra Governor said that 3.66 lakh houses have been constructed in the last three years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started a scheme to provide clean drinking water through taps in every house by the year 2024,” said Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

The Governor further informed that PM Modi has initiated several schemes to benefit the labourers and poor in the country. Bank accounts were also opened for the poor. 

Under this scheme, the Governor said, 30 crore new bank accounts were opened. Moreover, Maharashtra has become free from open defecation.

Of the 19 lakh houses, the permission to construct 13 lakh houses has been approved. Uner the housing scheme, 11.44 lakh houses will be constructed in urban areas of Maharashtra while 7.35 houses will be constructed in rural areas.
