Former Maharashtra Cabinet Minister for Tribal Development, Vishnu Savara, passes away

Vishnu Savara's health was said to be critical over the last few days. He was admitted to Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital on Wednesday, December 9, where he breathed his last. He was 72.

Maharastra State Former Tribal Development Minister, Vishnu Savara, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. He was 72 and passed away due to prolonged illness. Savara served as a Maharashtra cabinet minister and Senior Tribal Leader during his tenure.

Reports state that his condition was critical over the last few days. He was admitted to Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital on Wednesday, December 9, where he breathed his last. Vishnu Savara's has come as a shock to several political leaders Maharashtra. He was suffering from liver disease for the last two years.

Back in the 1980s, he quit his high-paying job at the State Bank of India to join BJP as a full-time worker. Since then, he had been entrusted with great responsibility, and for decades, he was known to be sensitive, alert, dutiful.

In the 1980 assembly elections, he was nominated by the BJP in the Wada constituency, but they did not succeed. In 1985, BJP again contested from Wada constituency, post which his social work continued.  For the second time in 2014, he was given the responsibility of the Minister of Tribal Development.

Along with his work, his humble nature made him a favourite among the citizens. He started many activities for the tribal community and also for the youth and always took initiatives for the upliftment of the tribal society.
