Mumbai- As per an RTI query, former medical education minister Dr Vijaykumar Gavit owes Rs 44 lakh to the state government.
RTI activist Anil Galgali unearthed the information through an RTI. On 20 March 2014, Gavit lost his post but he did not leave his official residence. He vacated the home after two years i.e on 29 July 2016 without paying the fine of Rs. 44 lakh. The public works department slapped a notice on 2 January 2017 and asked him to pay up a fine of Rs. 43, 84, 500.
Anil Galgali has requested the chief minister to withhold his monthly salary in order to recover the dues.
