Bombay High Court on Monday will hear the petition filed against the Maratha reservation. The 16 per cent reservation provided by Maharashtra government to Maratha community in government jobs and educational institutions has been challenged in the high court.
After a long wait and chaos over the demand of reservation, the state government passed the Maratha reservation bill on November in Maharashtra Assembly winter session and the same was implemented after Governor Vidyasagar Rao signed the bill.

Maharashtra government appealed to the Maratha community that they should get their certificate to enjoy the reservation quota in 72,000 government jobs. The certificates will be handed over from December 10.
The petition demands to cancel the reservation provided to Maratha community stating that the 16 per cent reservation granted to the community exceeds 52 per cent bar set by the Supreme Court in its order.
