Sharad Pawar has decided to reverse his decision of resignation and he will keep his role on as NCP president. He took a press conference and announced the same. 

He said his decision of resigning was not well taken by the NCP party workers who asked Pawar to reconsider his decision. The NCP core committee too didn't accept the resignation. Following which, Sharad Pawar took a press conference. 

NCP founding president Sharad Pawar, while resigning from the post of party president, announced a committee to elect a new president. After this, a meeting of this committee was held today (May 5) at the regional office of NCP in Mumbai. Sharad Pawar's resignation has been unanimously rejected. Praful Patel proposed to reject this resignation. All the members of the committee unanimously approved the proposal.

Also during the press conference, Ajit Pawar was not present in the press conference. Sharad Pawar refuted claims of NCP party workers joining BJP. however, he also said, that if anyone wants to leave NCP, then he can do as he or she wishes. He also clarified that Ajit Pawar didn't go to Delhi but he had no clue about the press conference, hence he was not there at the press conference.

On May 2, 2023, Sharad Pawar announced that he will be resigning as NCP president.
