Mumbai – A core committee meeting of the BJP was held here after the controversial suspension of the 19 opposition MLAs from the Legislative Assembly. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Chandrakant Patil, Pankaja Munde and other senior party leaders were present in the meeting.
According to sources, the core committee discussed the latest political equations in the state. The sources also claimed that 15 and 14 Congress and NCP MLAs respectively are in touch with the BJP. The core committee discussed the possibilities of mid-term Assembly polls and entry of MLAs from opposition parties into the party fold. As per calculations, 22 of these 30 defecting MLAs are likely to get elected again. The discussion on this topic would be conveyed to party bosses in the national capital.
All these steps are part of the strategy to defeat the Shiv Sena, sources said.
