Tourism department approves the ‘Beach Shack’ policy proposed for Konkan

A meeting to discuss the same was held in the presence of Tourism Minister, Aaditya Thackeray, whereby officials said that the development of various tourist destinations from Mumbai to Goa will be planned and given impetus.

The state government of Maharashtra, on Friday, approved the Beach Shake Policy aimed at boosting tourism and related developments in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. Under this policy, officials will be able to draft development plans for various tourist destinations between Mumbai and Goa. These would be planned and promoted, whereby extensive work will be done in various fields, assured State Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray.

The meeting was organized online to review various initiatives to boost tourism in the Konkan and was attended by Minister for Higher and Technical Education and Guardian Minister of Sindhudurg District Uday Samant, MP Vinayak Raut, MLA Deepak Kesarkar, Principal Secretary for Tourism Valsa Nair-Singh, Managing Director of MTDC Ashutosh Salil, Director of Tourism Dhananjay Sawalkar, MLA Yogesh Kadam, District Collector of Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg and others.

Speaking at this occasion, Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray said that there is massive scope for agri-tourism in the Konkan including beach shack tourism, tent tourism, caravan tourism and others, through which people in the locality can make benefits of the employment opportunities it generates through home-stay and other aspects.

Moreover, five-star hotels are investing in Konkan, and the aim is to boost tourism in Konkan by planning the development of various tourist destinations. Reviews will be conducted under the prospects and create employment through it by holding meetings on a timely basis.

Adding more, State Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant said that the memorial of Sane Guruji in Konkan and the memorial of poet Mangesh Padgaonkar should be sanctioned and the work should be expedited. Besides this, the development of forts in the state including Konkan should be given a boost, whereby tourism activities like Global Village can be implemented.

Furthermore, the network of roads connecting all the tourist destinations in Aurangabad district should be strong, and addressing this Aaditya Thackeray suggested that the action should be taken to ensure the quality of all roads is maintained. The hop-on, hop-off transport system might also be introduced in the city for tourists and plans for the same were also reviewed.
