Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) recently made a request to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray asking the government to allow citizens to welcome New Year their way. Leaders from the party have said that the people have been listening to the government all year round and now it was time for the government to listen to them for one day, and allow the citizens welcome the New Year, the way they want.

Currently, Mumbai has been experiencing a night curfew from 11 pm to 6 am as a new strain of coronavirus has been discovered in Britain. Keeping the same in mind, the state government has decided to ensure the safety of the citizens at all times, and hence no more than four people are allowed to gather in the city. Further, parties are held at various places on the occasion and keeping the enthusiasm in mind, MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande has demanded to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray that restrictions on people should be relaxed for one day on December 31, 2020.

Besides this, the MNS had earlier strongly criticized the decision of the state government to impose night curfew across all municipal areas of the state till January 5, 2021. Deshpande had lashed out on the government and stated that if they can conduct night parties, why can't others?

Adding more, Deshpande said that the common man has worked hard and faced a lot of troubles throughout this year, as the coronavirus pandemic brought several changes to one's life. Hoteliers are suffering and the decision to let everyone welcome New Year without restrictions would be a wise decision for the city.
