According to a data revealed by the Economic Survey Report 201-22 recently published by the Central government, Maharashtra has been listed as the top performing state under Start up India campaign.

Minister of Skill Development Nawab Malik on Thursday, February 3, took to Twitter and shared: “Maharashtra was ranked at the top among other states in the country with 11,308 recognised start-ups. In addition, out of 44 start-ups, which reached unicorns in 2021, 11 unicorns are from Maharashtra.”

He also noted that the valuation of unicorns ranges between INR 7,500 crores and INR 75,000 crores. Meanwhile, 25 per cent of total unicorns at the national level are in Maharashtra.

Malik also mentioned that there are 32,662 start-ups in Maharashtra of which 11,705 are recognised. There are about 62,000 recognized start-ups in the country.

With this, Maharashtra has become number one state among other states in the country with a conducive ecosystem.

Explaining further, Malik stated that in every district, there are 5 to 7 recognized start-ups. In remote Gadchiroli district, there are 30 registered and 9 recognized start-ups, while in tribal-dominated Nandurbar district, there are 32 registered and 11 recognized start-ups.

There are 14,710 registered and 5,938 recognized start-ups in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), 8,603 registered and 3,375 recognized start-ups in Pune, 774 registered and 220 recognized start-ups in Aurangabad and 36 registered and 14 recognized start-ups in Sindhudurg, he added.

Malik also urged the youth from every district of the state are contributing to bring forth new concepts. The Government of Maharashtra is giving all possible encouragement to these youths.

Meanwhile, NCP MP Supriya Sule, while addressing the Lok Sabha, stressed the problem of unemployment highly prevalent in India where more than 1.25 crore applicants applied for 35,000 job vacancies in Railways. She also questioned the ever-changing job creation target of the Centre from 2crore jobs in last years to just 60 lakhs in this year's budget.
