Mumbai University General Assembly Election to held in April 2024

The overnight postponement of the AGM election of the Mumbai University's registered graduate group has sparked outrage among the student unions. Criticism between the ruling party and the opposition was at its peak. The issue of postponement of elections reached the court. Finally the University has announced the revised schedule for the much awaited Registered Graduate Batch General Assembly Election.

Voting will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 9:00 am to 5 PM for a total 10 seats of the Registered Graduate Group. On Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 9:00 am at Sir Cowasji Jehangir Convocation Hall in Fort Complex, the results will be declared.

This election will be held for a total of 10 seats such as Scheduled Caste (1), Scheduled Tribe (1), Exempt Caste or Nomadic Tribe (1), Other Backward Class (1), Women (1) and Open Category (5). Voter registration of graduates for that election will be done from Monday, October 30 to Thursday, November 30 at 5:00 pm, at https://mu.ac.in 'Election 2022' or online at https://mu.eduapp.co.in. Thereafter, voter registration application scrutiny, objections and voter list (provisional voter list, revised voter list and objections) will be published on the same website from Friday, December 1, 2023 to Sunday, February 25, 2024. Thereafter, the final voter list will be published on the website on Monday, February 26, 2024 and the election notification will be issued on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Nomination form as a candidate for AGM Election of Registered Graduate Group of University of Mumbai by clicking on 'Election 2022' option on University website https://mu.ac.in or 'Login/Registration' on https://mu.eduapp.co.in. Submissions will be made on Monday, March 11, 2024 by 5:00 pm.

The university has also announced the new voter registration rules along with the entire program of elections. According to this, all the graduates of Mumbai University will have to fill the online application for voter registration again. This has come as a shock to the various student organisations which had earlier registered a large number of graduates as voters.
