Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Narayan Rane on Thursday said that he will join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on September 1, 2019. 

Along with this, Narayan Rane’s party - Maharashtra Swabhimani Paksh (MSP) – is also expected to merge with BJP in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. 

After quitting Congress in 2017, Rane launched MSP which is a part of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and was elected as a Rajya Sabha MP with BJP’s support. 

While talking to the media, Narayan Rane informed that he will join BJP on September 1 in Solapur where Home Minister Amit Shah will be addressing a rally.

Earlier, the former Congress leader met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss the merger of his party with BJP. Rane’s entry in BJP ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections might affect its alliance with Shiv Sena.
