Work at the Raigad jetty to be expedited

A meeting regarding the same was held at the ministry, in the presence of Minister Dattatrya Bharne. Discussions were held to reviews necessary steps for the jetty at Raigad and the betterment of fishermen's lives.

Post a recently held meeting, Fisheries Minister Dattatraya Bharne ordered the officials to take necessary steps to repair and widen the jetty at Raigad. Directions regarding the same were given under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, and officials have been told to act upon the measures needed to repair electricity, toilets, roads and other aspects.

Addressing more, Minister Bharne said that the process of providing diesel pumps and cold storages should be expedited by inspecting the available space in the jetty area. A meeting to discuss the matters was held at the Ministry, whereby the officials discussed the repair and widening work of the jetty at Alibaug, and reviewed the progress to provide up-to-date facilities. Instructed for the same were given to the concerned officials.

Besides this, the government has decided to develop a facility to park a limited number of boats at the port. The decision to extend the length of the jetty from 15 meters to 20 meters was taken after considering the number of fishermen and the related activities.

Furthermore,  also reviewed the work to facilitate the transport of diesel to the fishermen and taking necessary action, he directed the authorities to provide diesel under the scheme. Inspection work of the area near the jetty will be conducted soon and responding to the orders, a cold storage unit will be provided at Jivana Koliwada and Bhardakhol.

The District Planning Development Council will also be offering the lights and the water supply to the fishermen in selected areas. The government has directed the respective departments to expedite the work and appoint officers for fishing pass stamping, repair of the road leading to the jetty, and other works.

Besides Minister Bharne, the meeting was attended by Raigad Guardian Minister and Minister of State Aditi Tatkare, MP Sunil Tatkare, Deputy Secretary Fisheries SG Shastri, Joint Commissioner Ram Jadhav, Joint Commissioner SR Bharti, Executive Engineer Dais Pawar and others.
