After Maharashtra Minority Affairs Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) spokesperson, Nawab Malik, even Sanjay Raut has taken to Twitter to criticize the idea of lighting candles and diyas on April 5.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister, address the country at 9:00 AM today through a video message. In this video, he appreciated the people for following the lockdown. Furthermore, he appealed to the citizens to light ‘diyas’, torches or mobile flashlight at 9:00 PM in solidarity to the fight against the coronavirus. The PM asked to switch off their lights and hold candles to signify India’s fight against the darkness of the coronavirus or COVID-19

As a response to this, Sanjay Raut said, “When people were asked to clap, they crowded the roads and beat drums, I just hope now they don't burn down their own houses , sir 'diya to jalalenge ' but please tell us what the government is doing to improve condition”.

Nawab Malik also had shared a similar sentiment when he took to his Twitter to share, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address this morning brought a lot of disappointment to the people, we thought that they will discuss our food but he told us to look the other way,” Nawab Malik tweeted.

The country is going through a major crisis at the moment. The number of people registering positive is spiking. As per the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family affairs, there are 2088 active cases in India and the death toll stands at 56. There are also 156 people that have been discharged or cured till now.

While the world over there are many politicians and famous people that have contacted the disease but in India, the only person that has made it to the headlines is Kanika Kapoor. She undertook her fifth COVID-19 test recently, which to has come positive.
