Amid the ongoing voting of the presidential elections, reports have stated that the newly-formed Maharashtra government led by Eknath Shinde is expected to finally expand his cabinet on July 20.

Initially, about 10 to 15 ministers from Shinde camp and BJP are expected to be sworn in, with the monsoon session likely to begin from July 25 or August 1.

This comes after the Shinde-led faction's spokesperson, Deepak Kesarkar, assured that there is no difficulty in Cabinet expansion amid rumours that it was being delayed due to the ongoing legal tussle between the rebel camp and the Sena faction led by former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Addressing a joint press conference on the weekend, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had also hinted that there may be a cabinet expansion soon.

"Soon, there will be a cabinet expansion. We are making decisions for the people of Maharashtra. We don't find it necessary to answer what others are saying," Shinde was quoted by PTI.

However, no date has been announced by the BJP or the Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction over the cabinet expansion.

"There is a possibility of distributing cabinet portfolios on July 20 or 21, followed by swearing-in and holding the monsoon session within the next 10 days. This would enable ministers to learn about their new ministries so that they can answer questions on the floor of the House," said a senior BJP leader.

After the monsoon session ends, Shinde is likely to further expand his cabinet, as there is a mad rush from his camp and from the BJP to bag ministerial berths.

Presumed Cabinet Ministries To Be Allocated:

CM is expected to hold charge of general administration, urban development and the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation while Fadnavis will be in charge of home and finance, sources stated.

Former minister Uday Samant is tipped to be industry minister while former minister Girish Mahajan is expected to hold revenue, Gulabrao Patil (water supply) and Tanaji Sawant (transport). Further, former minister Dadaji Bhuse will get agriculture while Shinde camp spokesman Deepak Kesarkar may get higher and technical education.
