Amidst the farmers’ protest in India, several Shiv Sena leaders have slammed the BJP led regime for using cruel cold water cannons on the farmers in North India.

Saamana, the editorial mouthpiece of Shiv Sena has stated, “Our farmers are being treated as terrorists and attacked on Delhi borders while terrorists are killing our soldiers on the border in Kashmir,” Moreover, the editorial slammed Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for claiming a Khalistani link in the protests.

Currently in India, the farmers have been protesting alongside the Delhi borders against the new farm laws. They are protesting against the three laws, namely, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020; Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020 and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020, that took effect from September 27 after President Ram Nath Kovind's assent.

The farmers have repeatedly expressed fear over these new laws stating that the laws would pave the way for the dismantling of the minimum support price system, leaving them at the "mercy" of big corporates. The Centre, on the other hand, instead of listening to the woes of the farmers, have been routinely melting attacks on them.

On the other hand, Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena MP, had earlier lashed out against the Centre stated that the farmers are being treated like terrorists in the country. Moreover, he added that the way they are being stopped from entering Delhi with water cannons, tear gas and lathi charges, it looked like they did not belong in the country.
