Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) suspended legislator, Ramesh Kadam, was arrested in August 2016 for his alleged role in the misappropriation of ₹140 crore from the funds of Lokshahir Anna Bhau Sathe Magasvargiya Vikas Mahamandal. He has been accused of allegedly sanctioning loans to firms and giving cars worth ₹57 crore from the trust’s fund to his friends and relatives.

Kadam, who is currently serving time in Thane Central Jail, has blamed that the jail officials beat up an inmate and made him eat human excreta. He complained about the same to the Human Rights Commission in form of a letter.

Kadam mentioned in the letter that an inmate was beaten up on June 27, 2018, in Thane’s Central Jail and he was made to eat human excreta. He has also pleaded the commission to check the CCTV footage and take action against the guilty. He added that if the commission doesn’t act against the concerned jailer and officials, he will file a petition in Bombay High Court.

For now, Kadam claims that the commission has summoned Thane Central Jail officials.
