Mumbai Police is counted among the best police forces in the world. Be it breaking the backbone of Mumbai's criminal underworld or dealing with terrorists in the 26/11 attacks, the Mumbai Police Force has always performed brilliantly. Such police forces need to be strengthened with weapons and numbers.

However, in this Mumbai Police Force, 12,899 posts ranging from Constable to Additional Commissioner of Police are vacant. She said that she strongly condemns the negligence of the government. Varsha Gaikwad said, in the year 2022, 89,098 crimes were registered in Mumbai. Of these, 135 were cases of murder and 245 were cases of attempt to murder. Mumbai was also below Delhi in terms of crimes against women. In 2022, there were 1,859 attacks on women, while 350 cases of sexual harassment were registered.

Varsha Gaikwad also said that while crime cases are increasing in Mumbai, new technology based crimes like cyber crimes are also coming to the fore. It is alarming for Mumbaikars to have so many vacancies in the Mumbai Police Force, which is responsible for the security of such an important city like Mumbai. The government's inaction in this regard is worrying. Taking immediate cognizance of all this, Varsha Gaikwad has demanded through a letter that these posts in the police force should be filled as soon as possible.
