Mumbai is all set to open its first Glow Garden, which will illuminate on January 26. This first of its kind garden will be located near Lallubhai Park in Andheri West. The Padmashri awardee, Raveena Tandon, will inaugurate the event.

The grand unveiling is scheduled for Friday, January 26, at 6:30 pm. Andheri West MLA, Ameet Satam, was also cordially invited to witness this enchanting night. With just one day to go, the anticipation is building for this luminous celebration.

Additionally, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a light and sound show in Girgaon Chowpatty on Friday, February 19. This will be a part of the upcoming full-fledged glow garden at Girgaon’s Lokmanya Tilak Udyan.

BMC planned this as part of its six-step beautification plan to improve Girgaon Beach. Lokmanya Tilak Udyan is the cremation site of the independence fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. BMC plans to put up a light-and-shadow show in his honour.

Currently, it features glowing objects like animals, birds, plants, etc. BMC is also planning a laser show on the water body in the garden. The lightning will be visible from the Chowpatty.

The laser show will be open on holidays like the Ganesh festival, Navratri, Diwali, Christmas, Independence Day, Republic Day, and Gandhi Jayanti. In total, the laser show will be open for 8 months.

The project is part of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's INR 1,700 crore Mumbai Beautification Initiative. The initiative was unveiled in August 2022. Under this, every administrative ward in the city has been asked to choose areas beneath flyovers, gardens, and open places. Efforts will be made to beautify the areas.

Theme-based illumination will also be installed on streetlight poles on flyovers, public walls, medians, and traffic islands. According to reports, other important gardens will also be upgraded like this.
