What forced them to leave Shiv Sena?
Mumbai - Friday is the last day for filing the nomination forms for the BMC election. Before that, two current and one former Shiv Sena corporators have dropped their ‘bows and arrows’ down to hold the ‘lotus’ of the BJP. All of them used to be called hardcore Sena workers but their tickets were snatched from them to award it to the relatives and supporters of so called big leaders in the party.
Former leader of the house in BMC, Prabhakar Shinde, was the identity of Shiv Sena in Mulund. He tried to save the existence of Sena in Mulund after Shishir Shinde deserted that party for the MNS. The party had tried to keep him away as he was defeated in the last civic election. He had also fought the last Assembly election on Sena ticket but got defeated. This time, Shinde was willing to fight from ward no. 106 as it was restructured. Keeping Prabhakar Shinde aside, the Sena ticket was given to Abhijit Kadam who had jumped into the party from the BJP. Shinde had gone to the Matoshri to plead his case but in vain. Finally, Prabhakar Shinde accepted the offer of the BJP to join the party on Thursday. Abhijit Kadam was earlier with the Shiv Sangram Sanghtana, then he joined the NCP and the BJP and now he is in the Shiv Sena.
Sanjay (Nana) Ambole, a strong Sena worker from Lalbaug, had demanded his seat for his wife after it got reserved for women. Vibhag pramukh MLA Ajay Chaudhari fixed the name of Sindhutai Masurkar to finish the existence of Nana Ambole. The political rivalry between Ambole and Chaudhari caused the former to desert the party and join the BJP. He claimed that he left Sena due to harassment at the hands of MLA Ajay Chaudhari.
Mankhurd corporator Dinesh (Bablu) Panchal also left Shiv Sena as his wife was not given party ticket from his ward reserved this time for women. He had even started campaigning for his wife. But at the last moment, MP Rahul Shewale’s wife Kamini Mayekar-Shewale was given ticket from this ward which forced Panchal to leave Shiv Sena.
