The protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) have been going strong in various parts of the country.

The demonstrations across the country are mostly being led by women protesters. In Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh, women protestors have been sitting in unforgiving cold weather for more than a month now.

In Mumbai, hundreds of women have come out to protest against the Narendra Modi government over the new citizenship law. Drawing inspiration from Shaheen Bagh, they have been sitting in south Mumbai’s Nagpada area since January 26 night.

On Sunday late night, the women protestors gathered on Morland road outside Arabia Hotel while raising placards and slogans against CAA, NRC and NPR.

"We stand against CAA, NRC, NPR,” the slogans read.

As per a report published in Times of India, the women protestors are residents of nearby areas including Mumbai Central, Aripada, Madanpura among others.

An official from Mumbai Police informed that they have not withdrawn their agitation so far. However, the Mumbai police have been urging them to do so.

The women in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh have been protesting against the CAA, NRC and NPR since December 15. The protestors including children, students and women mobilised at Shaheen Bagh after the attack on the students of Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
