Days after Baba Siddique switched to Ajit Pawar-led NCP party, the Congress party took action against his son Zeeshan Siddique. On Wednesday, February 21, the party removed him from the post of Mumbai Youth Congress President. If reports are to be believed, Akhilesh Yadav has replaced him.

Zeeshan is a Congress MLA representing the Bandre (East) assembly seat of Mumbai. This decision came as he was also rumoured to leave the party like his father.

Moreover, after quitting, Siddique had said that he consulted his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique and former Congress MP Priya Dutt before crossing over to the NCP.

Meanwhile, a three-time MLA from the Bandra West constituency, senior Siddique was the former minister of state for food and civil supplies. He was also chairman of the Mumbai division of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority.

Siddique's exit was yet another blow to the Congress party which has already been dealing with many leaders quitting. Former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and senior leader Milind Deora also left the party this year.
