MahaRERA was launched on May 1, 2017, and by April 30, 2018, the MahaRERA registered 9038 complaints. Of these complaints, 7328 were valid and the rest were invalid. Amongst these, 706 complaints were against housing projects, while 247 housing projects didn’t need registration. Also, MahaRERA took action against 77 projects and found out that almost 89 housing projects have not been registered yet.
While studying the complaints, during a hearing, MahaRERA found out that 293 of these projects are unauthorised. Builders did not seek permission for the construction of these projects. Therefore, the MahaRERA declared these projects as unauthorised and have given orders to the authorities concerned to take action against builders and has sent notices to municipal corporation and collectors office.
