The benchmark indices ended with little change after a highly volatile trading session today.
At close, the Sensex was down 14.37 points or 0.03 per cent at 50,637.53 and the Nifty was up 10.80 points or 0.07 per cent at 15,208.50.
About 1749 shares have advanced, 1307 shares declined and 147 shares are unchanged.
On the Nifty 50 index, Asian Paints (3.38 per cent), Titan Company (3.18 per cent), Eicher Motors (2.89 per cent), JSW Steel (2.84 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (1.87 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while HDFC Bank (-2.05 per cent), HDFC Life (-1.66 per cent), Axis Bank (-1.30 per cent), Reliance (-1.13 per cent) and IndusInd Bank (-1.08 per cent) were the top losers for the day.
On the sectoral front, expect Nifty Bank (-0.81 per cent), Nifty Energy (-0.21 per cent), Nifty Financial Service (-0.71 per cent) and Nifty PSU Bank (-1.34 per cent) all other sectoral indices ended in green.
The BSE Midcap index was down 0.31 per cent while the BSE Smallcap index rose 0.26 per cent.
Author’s View: If Nifty sustains above 15,100 we expect it might gain momentum which could lead to a target of 15,400.
