Nifty and Sensex ended flat after a volatile trading session on 16th July 2021. Pharma and Realty stocks outperformed.
At close, the BSE Sensex was down 19 points or 0.04 per cent at 53,140.06, while Nifty was down 0.80 points or 0.01 per cent at 15,923.40.
About 1896 shares advanced, 1516 shares declined and 180 shares remain unchanged.
On the Nifty 50 index, Divi’s Labs (3.26 per cent), Bharti Airtel (2.99 per cent), UltraTech Cement (2.02 per cent), Tata Steel (1.79 per cent) and Power Grid Corp (1.50 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while HCL Tech (-3.34 per cent), Eicher Motors (-1.88 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (-1.65 per cent), Adani Ports (-1.64 per cent) and Infosys (-1.60 per cent) were the top losers for the day.
On the sectoral front, Nifty Pharma, Nifty Realty and Nifty Metal rose over a per cent each, while Nifty IT fell over a per cent.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.45 per cent and 0.38 per cent respectively.
Author’s View: Nifty witnessed lackluster movement and an attempt to hold the support level around 15,900. Sustaining above 15,900 is the key factor to gain momentum and extend the rally to 16,200.
