The benchmark indices ended higher on June 7 with Nifty closing above 15,750 backed by IT, Infra and Energy stocks.
On close, the Sensex was up 228.46 points or 0.44 per cent at 52,328.51, and the Nifty was up 81.40 points or 0.52 per cent at 15,751.70.
About 2284 shares have advanced, 961 shares declined, and 156 shares are unchanged.
On the Nifty 50 index, Adani Ports (5.37 per cent), Power Grid Corp (4.47 per cent), NTPC (4.16 per cent), Shree Cements (3.56 per cent) and Tata Motors (3.15 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while Bajaj Finance (-4.40 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (-2.69 per cent), HDFC (-1.27 per cent), JSW Steel (-0.76 per cent) and Divi’s Labs (-0.74 per cent) were the top losers for the day.
On the sectoral front, except Nifty Metal (-0.44 per cent), Nifty Pharma (-0.23 per cent), Nifty Realty (-0.28 per cent) and Nifty Financial Service (-0.25 per cent) all other sectoral indices ended in green. Nifty Energy (1.85 per cent), Nifty Infra (1.64 per cent) and Nifty IT (1.11 per cent) were the top performing sectors for the day.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.78 per cent and 1.38 per cent respectively.
