Nifty and Sensex ended higher with Nifty above 15,850 led by Auto, Realty and Oil & Gas stocks.
At close, the Sensex was up 363.79 points or 0.69 per cent at 52,950.63 and the Nifty was up 122.20 points or 0.78 per cent at 15,885.20.
About 2007 shares have advanced, 1071 shares declined and 136 shares remain unchanged.
On the Nifty 50 index, Shree Cement (3.64 per cent), Titan Company (3.32 per cent), Eicher Motors (2.86 per cent), BPCL (2.76 per cent) and Grasim (2.60 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while UPL (-2.16 per cent), Tata Steel (-1.69 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (-0.68 per cent), Bajaj Finance (-0.44 per cent) and NTPC (-0.38 per cent) were the top losers for the day.
On the sectoral front, all the sectoral indices ended in green. IT, Oil & Gas and Realty indices gained 1 per cent to 4.5 per cent.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 1.05 per cent and 1.07 per cent respectively.
Author’s View: The expected levels of the market are likely to be in the range of 15800 and 15950, and it is going to be crucial for the short-term market scenario to sustain above the 15800 level. Technical indicator suggests, a volatile movement in the market in a small range.
