Nifty Ends Above 14,900, Sensex Jumps More Than 250 Points

Nifty and Sensex ended higher for fourth consecutive session backed by Metal and Pharma stocks.

At close, the Sensex was up 295.94 points or 0.60 per cent at 49,502.41 and the Nifty was up 119.20 points or 0.80 per cent at 14,942.40.

About 2034 shares have advanced, 1004 shares declined and 220 shares remain unchanged.

On the Nifty 50 index, Coal India (7.45 per cent), UPL (7.18 per cent), Hindalco (6.15 per cent), IOC (4.70 per cent) and Tata Motors (4.00 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while Shree Cement (-1.90 per cent), Britannia (-1.37 per cent), Ultratech Cement (-1.22 per cent), Infosys (-0.96 per cent) and Hero Motocorp (-0.86 per cent) were the top losers for the day.

On the sectoral front, all the sectoral indices ended in green. Nifty Metal (3.14 per cent), Nifty Pharma (2.80 per cent) and Nifty Energy (1.61 per cent) were the top performing sectors for the day.

The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices, gained 0.97 per cent and 0.94 per cent respectively.

Author’s View: Support for Nifty has shifted to 14,900 – 14,850 zone and on the upside 15,050 is act as strong resistance. Breakout from the above mentioned range will decide the future direction of Nifty.
