Nifty Ends At Record High, Sensex Jumps 300 Points

Nifty ends at new all-time high while Sensex jumps 300 points led strong buying in market heavyweight Reliance.

 At close, the Sensex was up 307.66 points or 0.60 per cent at 51,422.88 and the Nifty was up 97.80 points or 0.64 per cent at 15,435.70.

About 1394 shares have advanced, 1674 shares declined and 138 shares remain unchanged.

On the Nifty 50, Reliance (6.01 per cent), Grasim (3.41 per cent), Adani Ports (3.29 per cent), M&M (2.08 per cent) and Coal India (1.63 per cent) were the top gainers for the day while, Sun Pharma (-4.25 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (-1.48 per cent), Shree Cements (-1.46 per cent), Dr. Reddy’s Labs (-1.41 per cent) and ICICI Bank (-1.41 per cent) were the top losers for the day.

On the sectoral front, except Nifty Pharma (-1.18 per cent) and Nifty IT (-0.15 per cent) all other sectoral indices ended with gains. Nifty Energy (1.41 per cent) and Nifty PSU Bank (0.67 per cent) were the top performing sectors for the day.

The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices lost 0.12 per cent and 0.48 per cent respectively.

Author’s View: Nifty is likely to be in range of 15,250 – 15,600. If market sustains the given zone we may see Nifty heading towards 16,000.
