Nifty and Sensex ended lower for the second day in a row backed by weak global ques.
At close, the Sensex was down 182.75 points or 0.35 per cent at 52,386.19 and the Nifty was down 38.10 points or 0.24 per cent at 15,689.80.
About 1693 shares have advanced, 1252 shares declined and 107 shares remain unchanged.
On the Nifty 50 index, Bajaj Finserv (4.22 per cent), Tata Steel (4.17 per cent), Adani Ports (2.36 per cent), Bharti Airtel (2.08 per cent) and JSW Steel (1.99 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while Bajaj Auto (-2 per cent), TCS (-1.55 per cent), HDFC Bank (-1.21 per cent), Reliance (-1.02 per cent) and Wipro (-0.98 per cent) were the top losers for the day.
On the sectoral front, Nifty Metal and Nifty Realty rose 2 per cent each, while Nifty IT, Nifty Energy and Nifty Bank ended in red.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rose 0.61 per cent and 0.39 per cent respectively.
Author’s View: The trader are advised to refrain from building a new buying position until market sees any further improvement and breakout above 15,800.
