Nifty Ends Below 15,750, Sensex Dips 273 Points

The Nifty and Sensex ended lower for a second consecutive day on July 27.

At close, the Sensex was down 273.51 points or 0.52 per cent at 52,578.76 and the Nifty was down 78 points or 0.49 per cent at 15,746.

About 1563 shares have advanced, 1630 shares declined and 107 shares are unchanged.

On the Nifty 50 index, Hindalco (4.32 per cent), SBI Life Insurance (2.65 per cent), Tata Steel (2.52 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (2.09 per cent) and SBI (1.57 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while Dr Reddys Labs (-10.49 per cent), Cipla (-3.94 per cent), Axis Bank (-3.25 per cent), Adani Ports (-2.87 per cent) and Divi’s Labs (-2.64 per cent).

Among the sectors, except metal and PSU Bank all other sector ended lower with Nifty pharma index down over 4 per cent.

BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices also ended in red.

Author’s View: Sustaining above 15,680, market is expected to bounce back and trade in the trade in the range of 15,680 - 15,900. Market is like to remain volatile.
