Nifty Ends Over 14,800 and Sensex Jumps Almost 500 Points After RBI's Credit Policy

The indices ended with gains after RBI’s policy on 7th April 2021. Nifty closed above 14,800 level and the Sensex gained close to 1 per cent. Auto and IT stocks outperformed.

At close, the BSE Sensex gained 460 points or 0.94 per cent to close at 49,662.76 and the Nifty gained 136 points or 0.92 per cent to close at 14,819.05.

About 182 shares have advanced, 1072 shares declined and 179 shares remain unchanged.

On the Nifty 50 Index, JSW Steel (4.62 per cent), Wipro (2.54 per cent), SBI Life Insurance (2.33 per cent), SBI (2.28 per cent) and Britannia (2.09 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while Adani Ports (-2.49 per cent), Tata Consumer Product (-1.30 per cent), UPL (-1.04 per cent), Titan Company (-0.75 per cent) and NTPC (-0.57 per cent) were the top losers for the day.

On the sectoral front, all the sectoral indices ended in green of which Nifty PSU Bank gained close to 2 per cent and Auto, Bank and IT indices gained more than 1 per cent each.

The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.82 per cent and 1.30 per cent respectively.

Author’s View: The current technical conditions suggest a slight upward shift in Nifty’s range. Nifty is likely oscillate between 14,600 to 15,100 levels.
