Sensex Dips 135 Points, Nifty Close Below 15,750

Nifty and Sensex gave up most of the intraday losses but ended lower in the volatile session on July 28.

At close, the Sensex was down 135.05 points or 0.26 per cent at 52,443.71 and the Nifty was down 37.10 points or 0.24 per cent at 15,709.40.

About 1299 shares have advanced, 1682 shares declined and 90 shares are unchanged.

On the Nifty 50 index, Bharti Airtel (5.06 per cent), Tata Steel (2.58 per cent), SBI Life Insurance (2.56 per cent), Divi’s Labs (2.07 per cent) and IndusInd Bank (1.74 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while Kotak Mahindra Bank (-2.66 per cent), Cipla (-2.54 per cent), Tata Motors (-2.39 per cent), Dr. Reddy’s Labs (-2.30 per cent) and M&M (-2.26 per cent) were the top losers for the day.

On the sectoral front, metal index added over 1 per cent and IT index rose 0.2 per cent, however, selling was seen in the auto, bank, energy and pharma sectors.

BSE midcap index ended flat, while smallcap index fell 0.4 per cent.

Author’s View: If the market sustains below 15,700, and can see the continuation in the correction till the next support level near 15,420 – 15,450. The traders are advised to refrain from building a new buying position.
