The benchmark indices ended flat after a volatile trading session on 13 January 2021.
At close, the Sensex was down 24.79 points or 0.05 per cent at 49492.32 and Nifty was up 1.40 points or 0.01 per cent at 14564.90. About 1200 shares have advanced, 1807 shares declined and 143 shares remain unchanged.
On Nifty 50 index, M&M (6.22 per cent), Adani Ports (4.97 per cent), SBI (4.89), IOC (3.06 per cent) were the top gainers for the day while, HDFC (-2.79 per cent), Shree Cements (-2.53 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (-2.76 per cent) and UPL (-1.95 per cent).
On the sectoral front, except Pharma and Realty, other indices ended in green. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap ended by 0.6 per cent and 0.4 per cent respectively.
Author’s View: Market failed to sustain above 14,600 level. Nifty is likely to consolidate between 14,400 – 14,680 level. As a caution, fresh buying position should be initiated after we see a breakout above 14,680.
