Stock Market Highlights: Sensex zooms 834 points, rally led by finace and metal stocks

The market continues its uptrend today after two days of selling pressure with Nifty above 14,500 and the Sensex above 49,000.

At close, the Sensex was up 834.02 points or 1.72 per cent at 49,398.29 and Nifty was up 239.90 points or 1.68 per cent at 14,521.20. About 2,077 shares have advanced, 861 shares declined and 139 shares remain unchanged.

On the Nifty 50 Index, Bajaj Finserv (6.82 per cent), Tata Motors (5.16 per cent), Bajaj Finance (5.07 per cent) and HDFC Ltd. (3.52 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while Tech Mahindra (-0.58 per cent), ITC (-0.41 per cent), Wipro (-0.30 per cent) and Britannia (-0.18 per cent) were top losers for the day.

On the sectoral front, all the sectoral indices ended in green led by Nifty Realty which was up by 4.19 per cent. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were also up by 1.5 and 2.3 per cent.

Author’s View: After a short correction Nifty has continued its upward rally and closed comfortably above 14,500 level. If this level is maintained, then we might see Nifty touching 15,000 within this month.
