The Benchmark Indices Ended Flat After A Volatile Session, Auto Stocks Outperform

Nifty and Sensex erased intraday gains and ended flat after a volatile trading session on 22nd June 2021.

At close, the Sensex was up 14.25 points or 0.03 per cent at 52,588.71 and the Nifty was up 26.30 points or 0.17 per cent at 15,772.80.

About 1839 shares have advanced, 1136 shares declined and 97 shares remain unchanged.

On the Nifty 50 index, Maruti Suzuki (5.30 per cent), UPL (3.92 per cent), Shree Cements (3.59 per cent), Wipro (2.66 per cent) and SBI Life Insurance (2.59 per cent) were the top gainers for the day while, Asian Paints (-1.88 per cent), Bajaj Finance (-1.62 per cent), Nestle (-1.20 per cent), HUL (-0.96 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra (-0.84 per cent) were the top losers for the day.

On the sectoral front, except Nifty Realty (-0.68 per cent), Nifty FMCG (-0.21 per cent) and Nifty Bank (-0.36 per cent) all other sectoral indices ended in green. Nifty Auto (1.34 per cent), Nifty IT (0.55 per cent) and Nifty Infra (0.42 per cent) were the top performing sectors for the day.

The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.33 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively.

Author’s View: Nifty has a strong support around 15,450 – 15,400 level. Dips can be utilized to accumulate long positions for an eventual target of 16,000.
