The Benchmark Indices Ended With Minor Losses Post A Volatile Trading Session

Nifty ends below 14,850, Sensex falls 154 points. Pharma stocks outperformed.

At close, the Sensex was down 154.89 points or 0.31 per cent at 49,591.32, and the Nifty was down 38.90 points or 0.26 per cent at 14,834.90. About 1647 shares have advanced, 1212 shares declined and 163 shares are unchanged.

On the Nifty 50 index, Cipla (4.88 per cent), Sun Pharma (3.66 per cent), HUL (2.74 per cent), Tech Mahindra (2.33 per cent) and Wipro (1.81 per cent) were the top gainers, while Bajaj Finance (-3.13 per cent), UPL (-2.56 per cent), NTPC (-2.10 per cent), Ultra Tech Cement (-2.09 per cent) and Tata Steel (-2.06 per cent) were the top losers for the day.

On the sectoral front, pharma index gained over 3 per cent and PSU Bank added 2 per cent, while metal, infra and auto sectors ended in the red.

Author’s View: Index witnessed a strong volatile week and closed a week at 14,837 with minimal loss on weekly front & formed a Doji candle pattern on weekly chart with represents indecision in the market.
