Heatwave in Maharashtra: Nearly 80% Drop In Heatstroke Cases This Year - Check District Wise List Here

According to a recent data revealed from the public health department, Maharashtra witnessed nearly 80 per cent decrease in heat stroke cases this year so far compared to the same period last year.

As per reports, a total of 82 cases of heat stroke between March 1 and April 15, 2024. However, in 2023 during the same time frame, Maharashtra saw such cases, making it significantly higher.

It is pertinent to note that this decline is despite the state facing severe heatwave conditions since the beginning of April. Moreover, in a welcoming news, this year so far, no deaths and fatalities have been reported due to heat-related health issues.

District-wise list of cases:

Buldhana: 12

Sindhudurg: 9

Wardha: 8

Nashik: 6

Dhule: 6

Pune: 5

Kolhapur: 5

Other districts such as Solapur and Thane have reported 4cases each, while three in Amravati. Ahmednagar, Beed, Chandrapur, Jalgaon, Parbhani, and Raigad have each reported 2 cases. Akola, Bhandara, Gondia, Nagpur, Nanded, Dharashiv, Ratnagiri, and Satara have each reported one case.

Nandurbar and Mumbai reported zero cases this year. Meanwhile, in 2023, 68 and 72 cases were recorded respectively till April 12.

Officials have anticipated a potential increase in the number of heat stroke patients with the temperatures soaring across the state.
