The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that it will be starting a Veterinary hospital at Mahalakshmi soon. This project is being planned in association with TATA Group.  For this hospital, a plot area of 1,979 sq m will be made available to BMC.

The proposal of this was approved on Saturday and work of building the hospital will start soon. Currently, there are only private Veterinary hospitals in and around Mumbai, and not everyone can afford to get their pets treated in these hospitals.

This new Veterinary hospital aims to change that as the entire cost of treatment in this hospital will be born by BMC.

Shiv-Sena leader, Aadtiya Thackeray was all praises of this move. In his tweet, he mentioned, that this was one of the promises made by the BMC and it is now being fulfilled.  Apart from taking care of the pets of the people who cannot afford expensive treatment, this facility will also be useful for getting treatment for stray animals. At present, there are five private Veterinary clinics in Mumbai and one hospital that is situated in Parel.
