The High Court on Monday expressed its displeasure over the Central Government's notice to a Russian woman to leave India after divorcing her first husband, while urging them not to bring up the issue of nationality between mother and baby. This Russian woman came to India after getting married, but after some time they got divorced. They also have a son. The petitioner remarried to an Indian. They have a six-month-old daughter, but after the divorce, the woman had moved the High Court against the central government sending a notice to the petitioner to leave India.

A bench of Justice Gautam Patel and Justice Neela Gokhale criticised the central government's stance on this notice. It was also heard that the six-month-old baby should not be taken away from this woman by raising the issue of citizenship. The notice was supported by the central government saying that this notice is temporary in nature.

The court again expressed displeasure about the central government's approach in this matter. It was also ordered to have a humane attitude towards the mother and her six-month-old baby. Pointing out that in the central government's notice, the petitioner had to leave the country and be separated from her husband and six-month-old baby, the court said, "You cannot interfere in someone's personal relationship and ask them to separate even temporarily."
